Weekend at Bernie’s (debuted July 5, 1989) is a dark comedy that follows two office workers, Larry & Richard, who discover their boss Bernie dead at his beach house. To avoid being suspected of his murder - and to keep a wild weekend of luxury going - they pretend Bernie is still alive, dragging his body around in increasingly absurd situations. (totally believable right?) Full of slapstick humor and 1980s charm, the film became a cult classic and a bizarre yet beloved example of decade-defining comedy. C’mon, what other decade could produce a wacky idea like this???

Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Entertainment System
Donkey Kong from 1981 is a pioneering arcade game that introduced the world to both Mario (then known as Jumpman) and his nemesis, Donkey Kong. Players guide Mario up ladders and across platforms to rescue a damsel in distress while dodging barrels and fireballs. Created by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, it was a major breakthrough in game design and storytelling. Could it be considered one of the most influential video games of all-time considering it introduced us to Mario???
